FAQ
What does "MiCA licensed" mean?
The exchange holds an authorisation under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation from a national competent authority, letting it passport services across all 27 EU member states.
What does "in progress" mean?
The exchange has a MiCA application under review with a national regulator but does not yet hold a granted license. Treat it as unlicensed until the license is actually issued.
Why is Backpack highlighted?
Backpack EU is one of the few exchanges here holding both MiCA and MiFID II authorisation, confirmed directly by Backpack on X and detailed on the Backpack Learn page. Disclosure: the Backpack card uses our referral link — we may earn a reward if you sign up through it. This doesn't change the licensing facts shown, which are sourced independently.

How current is this list?
Licensing status changes frequently, especially right after the MiCA transition deadline. We re-check every entry against official sources monthly and update this page when something changes. Always cross-check the relevant national register (ESMA, BaFin, Bank of Latvia, etc.) before trusting funds to any exchange.
Is this financial advice?
No. This page is informational only — it summarises public licensing status, not a recommendation to use any particular exchange. Do your own research and never deposit funds based solely on this page.
